Imo Mortuary Owner Declared Wanted Over Alleged Organ Harvesting
One Mr. Stanley Morocco Oparaugo, the owner of a mortuary and a hotel in the Umuhu Autonomous Community of Ngor-okpala Local Government Area (LGA), Imo State, is currently on the run after the police declared him wanted over serious allegations of organ harvesting being carried out at his facility.
Dependable NG reports that the Imo State Police Command carried out an operation at the mortuary which led to the shocking discovery of disjointed, mutilated, and unkempt corpses in highly unhygienic conditions.
The manner in which the dead bodies were tampered with, according to Police spokesperson Henry Okoye, strongly suggested that organ harvesting activities were taking place in the morgue.
In a statement made available to journalists, Okoye disclosed that the operation was personally led by the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, based on credible intelligence concerning the suspicious activities within the facility. The operation was assisted by a vigilante group from the LGA, aligning with ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes, especially along the Owerri–Aba Expressway.
Following the disturbing discoveries, both the hotel and the mortuary were sealed on the directive of the state government. The suspect’s residence was also searched, and crucial exhibits were recovered.
Okoye further hinted that a detailed forensic report, which was documented by the pathological department of the State Specialist Hospital, will be critical to the ongoing investigation.
The Commissioner of Police assured the public that all accomplices would be identified and brought to justice. He confirmed that Stanley Morocco Oparaugo has been declared wanted and urged anyone with useful information to contact the nearest police station or call 0803 477 3600. The Command has also deployed maximum security along the Owerri–Aba Expressway, assuring travelers of its commitment to their safety during the holiday period.
