Chief Priest Vows to Oppose Obi
Popular socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has publicly declared that he will actively work against Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election. The nightlife entrepreneur confirmed his political shift during a tense exchange with followers on Instagram, reversing his support for the Labour Party candidate in 2023.
When directly asked by a follower if he planned to oppose Obi in the upcoming contest, Chief Priest responded affirmatively, stating that he intends to challenge the former Anambra State governor’s anticipated bid. He noted that despite working for Obi during the last election, he had simultaneously served as a special adviser to an All Progressives Congress (APC) governor, highlighting his complex political allegiances.
His declaration generated mixed reactions online, with some followers questioning his loyalty and others referencing his past encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over naira abuse. Dismissing these concerns, Chief Priest downplayed the anti-graft agency’s actions, provocatively remarking that “if you never go Efcc for naija you never make am.”
The discussion further veered into regional politics, with users debating the level of support influential figures from the South-East provided to Obi in 2023. Chief Priest aggressively countered suggestions that stronger regional backing could have secured a win, telling followers to support their chosen candidates without imposing their views, while questioning the concrete developments critics had brought to the region in the name of Biafra.
