Omokri: Opposition Cannot Stop Tinubu

Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has argued that opposition parties face an insurmountable task in defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, asserting that the administration has already fulfilled key campaign promises. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Omokri argued that Tinubu’s economic reforms are delivering tangible results, positioning the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for continued dominance.

Omokri highlighted the party’s expanded political footprint, noting that the APC now controls approximately 30 state governorships, a significant increase from the 20 governorships held during the 2023 election cycle. He questioned the opposition’s strategic capacity to overcome this enhanced political machinery, arguing that if they could not defeat the President with less control in 2023, they certainly cannot do so now.

Furthermore, Omokri cited international validation, referencing recent reports from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that lauded Nigeria’s economic reforms as a model for other nations seeking sustainable growth. He claimed that these reforms have added approximately $67 billion to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over the past two years and boosted the country’s manufacturing capacity to the second-highest in Africa.

The former aide insisted that average Nigerians are experiencing the positive effects of these policies through increased purchasing power and more stable fuel prices. Addressing ongoing protests against the administration, Omokri dismissed the demonstrators as elites trying to regain power, rather than representing the interests of the broader populace.
