Rasheed Rips Osun APC Over Infrastructure Denial
The battle for public perception in Osun State has intensified, with the spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, launching a scathing rebuttal against the All Progressives Congress (APC). Rasheed asserted that only a failed political entity could deny the widespread infrastructure revolution currently reshaping major towns across the state. The response came following stinging criticisms from the APC, which accused the Adeleke administration of neglecting various regions.
Rasheed dismissed the opposition’s claims as symptoms of “political depression and embarrassment,” fueled by the growing public approval of the governor’s projects. According to the spokesperson, residents in major urban centers and rural villages alike are pouring accolades on Adeleke for his commitment to equity and fairness in project execution. He challenged the APC to visit communities like Ilesa, Ile-Ife, Osogbo, Iwo, and Ikirun to witness the visible transformation firsthand.
Highlighting specific achievements, Rasheed noted that the Obalufon of Ile-Ife had formally commended the governor for the ongoing ₦14 billion flyover and dualization projects, which are aimed at restoring the cultural hub’s global standing. Residents in the ancient town reportedly acknowledged over 14 road projects executed by the current administration. Furthermore, in Ijeshaland, appreciation has been voiced for the dualization of the road from the Palace to Brewery Junction, alongside Ilesa’s rising status as a university town.
The government spokesperson also addressed developmental strides in Iwo and the Igbomina axis. In Iwo, urban renewal efforts have included the dualization of roads through the Central Business District and the Odoori regional market, with residents celebrating the construction of over eight new roads. Similarly, Ila Orangun is witnessing its first-ever road dualization, complemented by a multi-billion-naira water dam project nearing completion to serve the broader region.
On the controversial airport project, Rasheed accused the APC of acting anti-developmentally by attempting to block the development of an airstrip at Ido-Osun. He argued that the opposition, having failed to deliver an airport during their 12-year tenure, is now shamelessly canvassing against the state’s aerospace progress. Rasheed maintained that the Adeleke administration is committed to expanding transport logistics across all modes, breaking the “jinx of underdevelopment” left by its predecessors.
