Taraba Governor Orders Immediate Deboarding of All Secondary Schools

In a decisive and sweeping security measure, Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has mandated the immediate deboarding of all public and private secondary schools across the state. The directive effectively suspends boarding facilities statewide, forcing all secondary institutions to operate strictly as day schools until further notice, in direct response to the escalating insecurity across Northern Nigeria.

The urgent order was formally issued in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin. The Commissioner explained that the move was necessitated by the growing pattern of attacks nationwide, which has tragically rendered boarding school students “easy targets” for criminal elements, particularly in light of the “recent abductions of students in Kebbi and Niger states.”

Dr. Godwin confirmed that Governor Kefas has directed that all secondary schools must now run strictly as day schools as a proactive security measure. School principals and owners of private institutions have been explicitly instructed to remove all boarding arrangements “without delay.”

The Commissioner described the radical policy shift as a proactive step to protect children and a critical preemptive action intended to mitigate any potential threats linked to the ongoing unrest and insecurity sweeping the region.
