The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has taken a drastic step to clean up its ranks, announcing the dismissal of 43 personnel for various acts of misconduct, ranging from desertion to scandalous behavior. This sweeping disciplinary action, confirmed in a statement released Thursday in Abuja by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, underscores a hardening stance against ethical breaches within the paramilitary organization.
According to the breakdown of the dismissals, the majority of the affected personnel—31 officers—were sacked for abandoning their duty posts, a violation described by leadership as a grave breach of the service oath. Furthermore, five individuals were removed for scandalous conduct, while seven lost their jobs due to misconduct directly related to patrol operations, highlighting ongoing concerns about integrity on the highways.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed emphasized that the purge is not merely administrative but a reaffirmation of the agency’s zero-tolerance policy toward indiscipline. He asserted that the FRSC uniform is a symbol of honor and responsibility, and those who fail to uphold its standards will face the full weight of the corps’ disciplinary machinery.
