The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an immediate and thorough investigation into a brutal armed robbery that occurred in the Ngurore area, leaving a 25 years old Point of Sale (POS) operator severely injured, necessitating the amputation of his hand.
The violent attack was confirmed in a press release issued by the Command, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police. The victim, identified as Akwarakiram Abel, was assaulted in the early hours of Friday.
According to the official statement, the incident took place between three and four in the morning, when a group of unidentified men, armed with dangerous weapons, forcibly entered Abel’s residence in the Sabon Pegi area of Ngurore, located within Yola South Local Government Area.
The intruders reportedly assaulted Abel before robbing him of his belongings. The attack was particularly vicious, as the statement noted that the robbers used a cutlass during the assault. The severity of the injuries inflicted by the cutlass was so devastating that it sadly resulted in the amputation of the victim’s hand.
In response to the heinous crime, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has promptly directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to commence a full-scale investigation. The primary objective is to swiftly identify, locate, and arrest all individuals responsible for the violent robbery and assault.
CP Morris assured the residents of Adamawa State that the Command remains unwavering in its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. He emphasized that the police would utilize all necessary resources to ensure that justice is served for Akwarakiram Abel and that the perpetrators are brought to account.
