Dependable NG reports that the confirmation followed a period of tension, as some senators initially opposed a proposal to exempt the former Chief of Defence Staff and ministerial nominee from being questioned.

The debate began when the Senator representing Niger East, Sani Musa, suggested that the nominee should be allowed to simply “take a bow and go,” a courtesy often extended to former colleagues or high-ranking government officials.
