The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a scathing attack on Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State, accusing him of having lost public confidence and, as a result, now resorting to vote buying in desperation as the November 8 governorship election approaches.
The weighty allegation was made by the party’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, in a statement published on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday. He strongly described the governor’s alleged actions as a “new level of desperation wrapped in impunity.” Abdullahi asserted that Governor Soludo has clearly forfeited the trust of the Anambra populace, arguing that only a leader who no longer enjoys widespread public support would openly engage in the act of vote buying.
Dependable NG reports that the ADC spokesperson also highlighted the legal implications of the alleged actions, noting that such conduct constitutes a direct violation of Sections 121 and 127 of the Electoral Act, which specifically criminalize voter inducement in any form. Abdullahi demanded immediate intervention from the nation’s electoral umpire, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to act swiftly and not “pretend not to see” what he described as a blatant abuse of power and a disregard for established law.
