Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, widely known as Odumodublvck, has asserted that the negative narrative surrounding his lyrical ability is driven by the sheer envy of his music industry colleagues.
Dependable NG reports that the rapper insisted his colleagues are jealous because he has achieved greater international success and commercial viability, despite claims that he is less talented than others in the genre. A reporter for Dependable NG noted that Odumodublvck made these remarks during a recent interview on the Toronto Ada’s Room podcast.
Addressing the criticism of his lyricism, Odumodublvck argued that the facts speak for themselves: “In Nigeria, they say that my rap is not good but I’m the most featured rapper by international artists.”
He further explained that the root of the “deep” envy lies in his versatility and commercial success: “I sing my hooks, my songs are hits and I get more bookings than them.” The artist claimed this jealousy is particularly strong among those who “think they are better.”
Odumodublvck, the ‘Pity This Boy’ hitmaker, stated that he pays no mind to the critics and will “continue pushing.” He then issued a direct challenge to any rapper claiming superiority, urging them to sell more records and book more shows to prove that they are, in fact, the better rappers.
